First thing I notice is that the Auto Article Profits report is quite small. Just 19 pages. That in itself doesn’t bother me too much, as long as it contains good solid information and no fluff.

The first few pages are just talking about how great article marketing is, and basically trying to sell us on it again. Kind of boring – I just want to get to the meat. Much of the information is just a rehash of the sales page.

At Page 7 we actually get to the usable stuff with the mistakes that many people make with internet marketing. While he doesn’t actually tell you how to fix them yet, he does go over some important points including the differences between ‘article marketing’ and ‘content marketing’.

On Page 9 we actually get into the ‘do this, then that’ part of the eBook starting with what I consider the MOST important part of your article – the Title.

The title is what will actually get the eyeballs onto your article and it’s worth getting this right. Yes keywords are important, but knowing the hot buttons that will get people to read your article in the first place is key.

Next he talks about the summary of your article, the body, and the resource box (which I believe is the second most important part of your article).

One point I disagree with is including a short blurb about yourself in the resource box. I don’t think readers give a flying hoot about who you are, they just want to know what’s in it for them.

He does however go into more detail on what to include in the call to action to get them to your site or product. These are all really good tips and ideas for marketers.

You are also told how many articles he recommends per subject/niche, whether you should submit the same article to multiple sites and his recommended schedule for how many to submit per day/per week.

Finally the eBook finishes with strategies to how to repurpose your content for maximum benefit.

Overall Thoughts on Auto Article Profits

This is a sweet and simple little eBook on article marketing targeted to beginner’s in internet marketing. If you have yet to get started in article marketing then for $10 it’s not a bad buy, but if you are already an experienced marketer then you probably already know everything in here.

It does have a lot of ‘this is what you should do’ and not enough ‘this is HOW you do it’ but what do you expect for such a teeny price.

I think it’s priced right at $10, because you do get some nice little tips and it’s an easy guide to read. You don’t get any earth shattering new stuff and much of the information can be find online if you know where to look, but it’s good to have it all contained in the one place to refer to when needed.

As I mentioned, I wanted to do a thorough review of Auto Article Profits by John Thornhill because I believe that article marketing is one of the best ways to generate traffic and make money through internet marketing (it’s the one method I use consistently to do so each and every month).

Of course some months I might only get a handful of articles out, and other months I might do hundreds.

Anyway, let’s get to the review.

The salespage at Auto Article Profits is pretty standard for a salepage. Big red headline with a bold claim, which in this case is to see how John makes between $10 – $500 every month from writing just one article.

I don’t know why I always look at these headlines with scepticism (maybe I’ve been in the internet marketing game too long) but I’m willing to give him the benefit of the doubt and keep an open mind for this review.

He goes on to say why article marketing is awesome (which I agree with) and talks about getting your one article published on over 400 different websites – which I now understand how just one article COULD go on to earn as much money as he claims in the main headline.

One point on the salespage got my attention because it’s something I definitely agree with:

Contrary to what many people think, article marketing is not about bombarding the Internet with as many articles as you can possibly churn (or spin) out. There’s a little more to it than that. When used correctly, each article that you publish can become an ongoing traffic – and profit source.

That is so true. I believe that writing quality articles will give you so much better results than just rewriting some rehashed PLR. If you put the time into your articles, you will definitely reap the rewards.

OK, so the salespage seems pretty solid. I agree with most of his claims and I’m looking forward to actually reading the report to see if it contains good information on using article marketing for maximum results.

I have to say that by far the technique that has made me the most money online and got me the most traffic is article marketing. I use articles for my adsense sites, my amazon sites, in fact pretty much every site out there that I own.

I use articles for both direct traffic and for SEO purposes.

I put them on article directories such as ezinearticles.com and web 2.0 sites like hubpages, squidoo, infobarrel and xomba (the last two I’ve only started using).

Last month (May) I made the most money I’ve made in a month for at least a year (and probably longer but I only started tracking my income properly in a spreadsheet about a year ago so can’t remember what I earned before that).

The majority of my income was from my Amazon sites which I used articles to get ranked for certain keywords.

My point is that if you are into SEO or just want to get some direct traffic then you need to be writing articles.

I know, I know, many people say they hate writing – luckily I’m one of those people that actually does like writing but don’t ask me to write anything for you because I don’t have the time.

But you can outsource your articles if you’ve got the cash. I’ve had pretty decent results with humanrewriter.com which you give them an article and they’ll rewrite it for you. An average 350 word article should cost you around $3-$4.

New customers get $5 free credit (which will get you around one article) to test out the service first if you like. Then you just buy credits from your PayPal account and order as many articles as you like. There is usually a few days turnaround (although some days I’ve got articles back as quick as 24 hours) which you get to accept or reject.

It’s not a bad resource if you hate writing, but I still think you should be writing your own articles as well.

If you are new to writing or need some help with structure and layout, then I recommend learning about it.

There are some really good threads on the warriorforum that you can read about (do a search for Tim Gorman who I think is the best article marketer on there).

Or you can get a good ebook that will teach you the techniques in one hit.  I bought I good one from Dean Shainin once.

To help you out I thought I’d review a few article marketing ebooks/courses that are currently out at the moment over the next few weeks.

The first one I plan on reviewing is John Thornhill’s new ebook Auto Article Profits because it’s only $10.  I’m hoping it’s a good resource and not just some rehashed PLR – I’ll let you know soon.

I’ve had quite a good week in terms of getting things done but surprisingly I haven’t made one ClickBank sale as an affiliate. Not one!

I think perhaps this week I need to spend a bit of time increasing the ranking and amount of pages that I have out there. The more pages you have, the better chances you have of making some sales.

Autoblogging Update

I told you last week that I was trying out Instant Blog Submitter to test autoblogging on one of my old domains. Well the program up and stopped working on me last Tuesday. It keep coming up with an error about sockets or something. (I don’t know – I’m so untechnical).

I was still keen on the idea of autoblogging though, so I’ve downloaded a free wordpress plugin called wp-o-matic. That does all of the stuff I was using Instant Blog Submitter for (pulling rss feeds and publishing them to my blog) but it’s free. Can’t do better than free I say.

So far I’ve got 81 posts on the site – and I haven’t written one myself. Google has indexed about half of them. I’ve only had 4 search engine visitors so far though. Once I get to about 10 per day then I’ll add some eBay monetisation.

Just a note. If you want to try this I suggest that you DO NOT put adsense on your sites to monetize. It creates kind of junky posts and some don’t make much sense. Use either clickbank, ebay or amazon (depending on your niche).

I also suggest adding some youtube video’s and articles (grab them from ezinearticles keeping the resource box intact) so you get even more content.

Making Money Online with Amazon

I had quite a few people want to know more about making money with Amazon so I thought I’d let you know exactly what I do. This method can be applied to clickbank, cpa or anything really. I should really write an ebook and charge you all $27 for it – and if I was a good internet marketer that’s probably what I’d do, but you know what, I don’t care about that anymore and I really don’t have the time.

Anyway the biggest trick for making money with Amazon is to target actual product names. This way you’ll get people at the end of the buying cycle who are looking to buy with credit card in hand. Don’t bother yourself trying to find related long tail phrases, go right to the people who are ready to buy.

I usually head over to Amazon and check out their bestseller lists first, then look in Google Adwords to see how many searches they get. Finally I check out competition by using the intitle search parameter to see my competition. I usually do this for around 10 or so products and then set up hubpages or squidoo lens (I’m preferring hubs at the moment) around those products. If one product starts to make some good money then I’ll build a website around it to further capitalise on it.

Let’s take a look at this in more detail. I’ll take you through a process so you can follow along.

Let’s say that you want to target kids bicycles. Looking at Amazon’s bestselling products the top seller (as I write this) is a trike called Schwinn Roadster 12-Inch Trike. It’s a good price so you’ll earn a decent commission (although I rarely worry too much about price).

Heading over to Google Adwords Keyword Tool I plug in a few variations to find out the exact match searches for various phrases that people might use when searching for that item.

Make sure you have exact match selected in the match type drop down.

The results I get for this trike is:

schwinn roadster – 1,600
schwinn roadster 12 inch trike – 720
schwinn roadster trike – 590
schwinn roaster 12 inch – 36

Right now the top three look promising. I like them to have over 500 exact match searches – preferably over 1,000 though.

Now let’s look at the competition for the first three. I go to google and type in intitle:”keyword” to find competition. That’s just how I do it. You might have a different way.

Using this I find that I get the following number of competing pages:

schwinn roadster – 12,800
schwinn roadster 12 inch trike – 1,020
schwinn roadster trike – 163

I usually look for results under 1,000. I’d probably made an exception for the second one because it’s so close. The top phrase has too much competition – it’s unlikely to make you any money, but the bottom two are good candidates.

Next I’d create a hub or lens using that exact phrase in the title and probably a few extra times through the text too.

There you go. Easy! Now go and build yourself some pages.

JV Auction Profits Review

My former coaching teacher John Thornhill has just released a new ebook called JV Auction Profits and I was lucky enough to get a review copy from him. In his latest guide, he talks about how to use eBay to secure joint venture deals.

You can use his ideas whether you have a product or a list. He even gives help and advice if you have neither of these, and how you can still make money using this method.

It’s only a short little guide – 30 pages – but it’s got some really great information on making money this way. And the best thing is that John is only charging $10 for it. An excellent price for some good information.

My plans for this week

Well I’m going to concentrate on my adsense sites this week. I’m getting some good rankings for long tails, but I’d like to get my main keyphrases a bit higher in the search engines. I’ve written a few articles and I’ll also do some more backlinking from commenting and using Angela & Pauls links as well to get this higher if I can.

Phew, my fingers are starting to hurt. I think I’ll leave it there for now, but I’ll write more soon.
