I'm making money online so I don't have to get a Job
21 Mar
With more and more people trying to make money online it’s hard to know what is real and what isn’t when it comes to online products and services. Even when you try and find a review for a product or eBook that you are considering buying most of the reviews that you’ll read are bogus reviews written by affiliates looking to cash in on a popular product. They’ve probably never even read or used the product that they are promoting so have no real knowledge of whether it’s a legit way to make money online.
One such item that many big ‘affiliates’ are promoting is called Site Build It (SBI) or SiteSell or something. Perhaps you’ve heard of it? To be honest I don’t know much about it apart from what appears on the sales page (which I’m not going to publish here because that isn’t the purpose of this post), but it doesn’t sound like something I’d ever be interested in.
It’s targeted to absolute beginners and claims to help you get started building your online empire with hosting, marketing and building your site for you for a modest fee of $300 (yikes!).
This brings me back to the purpose of this post. If perhaps you were new to online marketing and you tried and do a search on Site Build It Review you’d find hundreds of affiliates all trying to pimp the product with their so called reviews. By the way – that link there will take you to a review of a woman named Lis who thinks Site Build It is a scam and justifies her opinions very well.
She was so sick of all the fake reviews on Site Build It that she decided to write her opinion about it and, oh boy, what ensued was name calling and bashing left, right and center (read all the comments – they are hilarious).
Then of course I listened to Vic from Blogger Unleashed’s take on the whole debacle with a video that had me in stitches as he talks about the Site Build It Noobs and why they are not making any money (it does have graphic language so be prepared for that).
All this started from someone trying to write her own honest review about a product that many other affiliates are promoting.
An honest review of an online marketing product? Wow – what is our industry coming to? LOL

Thanks Tracey – yeah honesty and internet marketing who would have thought it! In fact the review was pretty average but there is an above average lesson in SEO about 30,000 words in – I pulled them into a hub of their own – link above .Thanks again
Lissie
Hi Tracey,
I agree with you that many reviews you can find on the net have been written by people who just want to make a quick buck without ever having used the product they’re promoting.
So far so fine, but why do you then put yourself into the same basket and join them?

If you don’t know much about it and have not used it yourself, how can you judge if it’s any good or if the reviews are justified and genuine?
Just wondering,

Hi Sue,
You are right, I don’t know much about Site Build It which is why I didn’t give an opinion on it myself and just reported on what Lissie was saying in her review.
But it really got me thinking about how many reviews out there are fake and just written by affiliates looking to cash in. I was using Lis’s review of SBI mainly because I couldn’t believe the attack dogs that came after her from writing an opinion piece. Why did so many people resort to name calling and personal slurs against her from writing a review about a product?
Are we now not allowed to say that a product sucks? And even if you search for product name + scam – you hardly find a negative review of any product (unless it’s really really bad).
I guess I wanted to support a fellow marketer who just wanted to say her peice without being attacked like she was. I would dearly love people to be more honest in their reviews.
That was the point I was trying to make. I was just using SBI as an example.
I wish there was more balanced reviews out there, both good and bad, so we can make our minds up about which product is right for us or not.
Take care
Tracey
It seems I encountered too many bad reviews of Site Build It.
I remembered this software got a good interest of many in the last few years.
What a bad thing for those you acquired this software!
