I'm making money online so I don't have to get a Job
16 Mar

As you know, I’ve recently been following the blog of Griz who writes an awesome blog about how to make money online.
In his latest post he tells us about how he just made over $9,000 in Adsense in just 8 days from over 1.5 million visitors. Let me pause while you get your head around those figures – 1.5 million website visitors within 8 days – over $9,000.
Holy Moley!
Now while I don’t know EXACTLY how he did (although I have some idea’s), how can we create even a fraction of this success for ourselves?
Aaahh I’m glad you asked – he did it by taking advantage of Hot Trends.
Hot Trends are not going to make you any long term financial success, however if you are looking to make some quick cash then read on.
Your first step is to get a blog setup and indexed. Obviously you can’t make money with a topic if you can’t get your blog indexed quick smart. I suggest setting up a very generic blog and changing the settings so it only shows one post per page. This way you can write about a few different topics without the Google Bot getting confused as what the blog is about because only one topic (one post) will be displayed at any one time.
You will use this blog as your main blog. Each post can be about a different hot topic if you like – it doesn’t really matter with this generic blog. This blog is what you are going to use to feed traffic to your other little mini sites and give them backlink juice when you find a hot topic to go after.
Once your blog is indexed, now you can start looking for some hot trends to take advantage of. You can do this any number of ways, but here are some great ideas to get the juices flowing:
- Visit Google Hot Trends to see what people are searching for – http://www.google.com/trends/hottrends
- Keep an eye on the news and see what’s current and topical
- Check out Oprah’s upcoming shows to see what topics she’ll be discussing
- Know what the hot TV shows and movies are
- Find out if any scandals (political, celebrity) are happening and jump on them early
All of these topics should get a lot of search traffic and probably won’t have much competition because it’s too early for other’s to set up sites for them.
Once you’ve chosen a topic that you think is going to be hot (even if it’s only for a week) then write a blog post about it on your main generic blog using keywords that people will be searching for.
Try and write a new post on a new hot topic every day.
Put either Google Analytics or Statcounter (or other traffic analytical program) on your blog. Keep a close eye on your stats to see which posts suddenly get a surge in traffic – this is (hopefully) going to be your money maker.
When you start seeing a big surge in traffic for one of your hot topics, set up a specific mini blog with keywords from the topic in your blog name and post name. Write 3 or 4 posts using different keywords and variations on the phrase with ORIGINAL content (I recommend only using free blogs such as Blogger for the mini blogs). Link to your mini blog from your main blog using 2 or 3 anchored keyword links.
You should have Adsense on both the main and mini blogs as long as they are getting AT LEAST 50% search traffic (otherwise you could be at risk of being smart priced).
If you have other sites and blogs, feel free to link to the mini using anchored link text as well (you can take off the links once the trend is over). This will give them more link juice and push them higher in the serps.
And that’s really it.
Keep posting hot topics to your main blog, and when you find big traffic surges set up your highly targeted mini sites.
Now go and make some money online off some hot trends.

When you have enough traffic, you have audience that will be your potential customers when you start making money . It is the first key.

Traffic is the key to making money online, but there are many ways to make money from traffic, selling them something (having them be a potential customer) is just one way. Personally I’m moving away from that model though – I don’t want to ’sell’ people things. Although I’m happy if they want to buy. Did you get the distinction?

I just found your site after purchasing your Ebay classified ads book. Your site is wonderful and I will be back. Mine is in it’s infancy, and I dabble in affiliate products, but my forte right now is Ebay. Thanks for all of the great info.
Hi Margaret,
Thanks for dropping by. Glad you enjoy the site. I’ll be adding lots more free making money online tips soon. I started in eBay too – its a wonderful way to earn cash. Good luck with your website!
Take care

hi
How can i get a free blog, as i now a lot of my friends have them. And how do i index them on the search engines
cheers
Hi Des,
Head over the blogger.com and sign up for a free account. You can have lots of blogs there under your name and they are all free.
Search engines will index them in their own time, but the best way is to link to your blog from another site that is already indexed.
Hope that helps

Hello Tracy i am new in all this. i read everything that you wrote. i tryed to put on e-bay the free e-book that you provide and wasn’t able to do it. i was stoked when i clicked on the aweber link because i get a different site than the one you show i mean it is aweber but the display is different as it also is on ebay(different display? i must be dumb no doute because every body else seem very happy and productif. For the mailing list i understand that i have to build an e-mail list and put the clickbank link but to whom? i don’t know where to find people to e-mail to. i am sorry but it must sound to you like i am almost retarded. Maybe you could help me? anyway thank you
Hi Christian,
We were all new at some stage, so don’t worry if things seem overwhelming at first, take small steps and you will get there. Before you try using eBay I would recommend that you first start a blog so you can get used to being online and understand a bit about traffic and marketing. You can get a free blog at blogger.com.
Once you start getting some traffic you can build a list, but I wouldn’t recommend trying to do it before you get visitors.
What you should do is write 5 or 6 posts on your blog of about 400 words each for a topic that you know about. Then write another 5 or 6 articles of about 400 words and submit them to ezinearticles.com with a link in the resource box back to your blog. That will get you some traffic to start with and you can then choose some affiliate products to promote on your blog.
Ebay is a great way to get traffic but if you are an absolute beginner there are things that you can do first to get you started.
