I'm making money online so I don't have to get a Job

Digital Items Restricted on eBay

If you are an ebook seller (or any other digital file) then you would have no doubt heard the new policy changes that ebay.com is bringing into effect 31 March 2008.

Digital items, (which include ebooks, websites, domains, music, etc) will no longer be able to be sold via auctions or buy it now’s.  The only way you will be allowed to list them will be through the classifed ad format.

Many sellers are trying to think of ways to get around this such as offering their products on cd and shipping them (since then it would be a physical product) however that is not an option for me being in Australia.  For a start the postage would be over US$8 and it would take two weeks to get to the customer.  Can you imagine a customer waiting 2 weeks or more to get an ebook!?  I don’t think so.

Besides I think that is taking a step backwards as far as internet technology is concerned.  Surely we are more advanced than shipping someone a cd with an ebook on it!

I have yet to explore the classified ad format although so far fee’s have kept me at bay.  On ebay.com it is 9.95 for 30 days (on ebay.com.au it is AUS$19.95 for 30 days).  That would almost eliminate most of my stock which ranges in price for between 0.99 – $3.99.

At the moment I am just waiting for the dust to settle.  I have cancelled my automation rules for relisting ebooks and will just let my current stock run down before cancelling the remainder on the 31st.

I wish I could give more news, but at the moment I’m not sure which is the best way to move forward.  However I’m sure when one door closes, another one opens so let’s keep our eyes open for some nice doors!

P.S.  Obviously this means that my product $300 in 30 Days THAT I HAD JUST FINISHED is now obsolete even before anyone could purchase it.  Looks like it is back to the drawing board for me.

  • $300 in 30 Days Auction Challenge

My first product is finally finished.  All that is left to do is redo the sales page and start on my affiliate page.

I think we do most of that stuff in this week’s class (as you know I’m a student of John Thornhill’s Personal Coaching Program).  So after this week it should be ready to be sold on Clickbank.  I’m sort of ambivilent about what to expect.  Some days I think this product is going to make me millions of dollars and other days I think I’m never even going to sell one.

Of course in all likelihood I’ll end up in the middle of those two extremes.

It just has seemed like it’s taken so long and I just want to get it going already ya know.

But I’ll still take it at the same pace as the course suggests.  Besides I have no idea how to list something on Clickbank.

Here’s to making some money …

  • Let me add just one more thing ..

This small little project of mine is starting to become huge.  Everytime I think that I’m nearing the finish line I think of more things to make it even better!

Right now I’ve decided to add instructional video’s and break up the ebook into weekly sections – more like a course than a simple ebook.

I’m really excited about how it’s progressing.  I really want this to be the best product it can be.

    Not long now …

  • Ok, so now you know the title of my new eBook.

I’m also in the process of making the website, but it might take me a little bit longer to finish everything.  You can have a sneak peak at it: www.300dollarsin30days.com

Not bad huh!  What do you think so far?
