What’s the deal with Classified Ad titles?

Hope you are all making a killing with your eBay classified ads and that all is well.

I wanted to have a quick chat about your ad title.

As you know I’m not a huge fan of just having the title of the product you are promoting in your title – why?

Because very rarely does anyone actually search for the product name unless it’s a very well know product.

People search for the BENEFITS of what the product will do.

So say you’ve decided on promoting a product that will help get your baby to sleep and the product name is Sleeping Soundly .. (or some such thing).

Unless that product has been on Oprah it’s unlikely that people will be searching for it by name.

However, loads of people want to know how to get the baby to sleep and you want to earn money promoting the product so what would be a better title?

Hmm .. How about something like ‘How To get your Baby To Sleep in under 15 Minutes’.  Think that title would get clicks?  I certainly do.

So instead of placing the product name in the title, try using a product benefit and watch it increase your click through rate!

  1. This is something that I have put a lot thought into trying to get more response to my Classified Ads. After much rewording I did see some slight increase in interest. You are totally correct in that unless the product is well know people will not search for your product using generic keywords.
